How do I import content from the University of Utah Common Course Template?

Important Introduction

Importing the University of Utah Common Course Template will overwrite any existing content you may have added in the Canvas Syllabus you may currently have in your course.   Please reach out to Digital Learning Technologies at [email protected] for assistance if you would still like to import the template and retain your already existing template.

1. Login to Canvas and Access your Canvas course homepage.

2. Click Import Existing Content on the right.

3. Select "Copy a Canvas Course" from the Content Type drop-down.

4. Type "University of Utah Common Course Template" in search field.

5. Select "All content".

Important Note! If you currently have content in the Canvas Syllabus found above the Course Summary heading, selecting "All Content" will overwrite your Canvas Syllabus content.  Skip to step 7 if you need to keep Canvas Syllabus content.

6. Click the Import button.

7. Select "Select specific content" if you have content in your Canvas Syllabus you do not want to overwrite and select all content you need, and make sure to exclude "Syllabus Body".
