How do I create a Canvas Test Course?

Updated on

A test course in Canvas allows you to experiment with features, test content, and train faculty or department personnel.  A test course can also serve as a template course.

A test course is a Canvas course that you can use to experiment with features, try out content and delivery methods, use to train other faculty or department personnel, or use as a template course. Students are not enrolled by default, but you can add users and create course content.

Creating a test course in CIS provides you with a Canvas course shell that is not associated with an official university class of registered students.

You can move your test course to a more permanent location by contacting [email protected]. To create a test course make sure you are on a Campus network or VPN and follow these steps:

2. Search for "Create Canvas Test Course" in the search bar

3. Select the "Create Canvas Test Course" option

4. Follow Prompts and Enter Test Course Information

Enter the Course Title [1] and click the Submit button [2]. The test course will be listed in your University of Utah Canvas Dashboard.
