Introduction
Instructure’s modernized SpeedGrader is a leap forward in grading technology for faculty, offering you a faster, more intuitive, and more flexible experience. Whether you're managing a large lecture course or providing personalized feedback in a seminar, SpeedGrader now adapts to your workflow with ease.
Fast Performance for Large Classes
SpeedGrader now loads significantly faster for large courses, including courses with hundreds of students. The modernized speedgrader allows you to navigate submissions and provide feedback without delays. It’s especially valuable for high-enrollment or data-heavy courses where grading used to be time-consuming.
Why it matters:
- You no longer experience lag when opening SpeedGrader in high-enrollment courses.
- Grading sessions are more efficient, especially during peak times like midterms and finals.
- You can move between student submissions without waiting for pages to refresh or load.
Section Selector for Streamlined Navigation
The new Section Selector allows instructors to filter submissions by class section. This feature simplifies grading across multi-section or cross-listed courses, helping you stay organized and focused on specific student groups without scrolling through the entire roster.
Why it matters:
- If you are teaching multiple sections of the same course you can now isolate and grade one section at a time.
- Reduces visual clutter and cognitive load when navigating large rosters.
- Helps ensure grading consistency within each section.
Tips for use:
- Use the dropdown menu in SpeedGrader to select a specific section before beginning your grading session.
- Combine this with the “Sort by Submission Status” option to prioritize ungraded or late submissions within a section.
