FERPA Certification Required for Canvas Course Shell Creation

Canvas course shell creation

A Canvas course shell with enrolled students is automatically created when the instructor is FERPA certified and when the U of U class schedule is made available and includes both the class and instructor's name.   If your class does not appear in the class schedule or your name is missing, please ask the person who sets up the class schedule for your department to contact Scheduling at (801) 581-7854 or [email protected]

If your class appears with your name in the class schedule but your Canvas course is not available in your Canvas Dashboard, please make sure to complete FERPA certification.

How to complete FERPA certification

If you have not already done so please complete the FERPA certification process by clicking on the FERPA Review link found in the following link: https://registrar.utah.edu/faculty/ferpa-certified.php 

Your course will appear in your Canvas Dashboard after four hours or so after completing FERPA certification.
