How to record a Zoom meeting

Updated on

Overview

Zoom users can record their meetings using one of two methods: computer recording or cloud recording. Computer recording will save the video file to the user's local hard drive and cloud recording will save the video file to the user's Zoom account in the cloud.

Zoom Computer Recording

1. Enable Zoom computer recording.

Before you can start a computer recording, you must first enable this feature in your Zoom web portal settings. Visit the Enable computer recording article to view instructions for this process.

2. Start a computer recording.

If computer recording is enabled for your account, you can start a recording from within your Zoom meeting. Visit the Starting a computer recording article to view instructions for this process.

Zoom Cloud Recording

1. Enable Zoom cloud recording.

Before you can start a cloud recording, you must first enable this feature in your Zoom web portal settings. Visit the Enable cloud recording article to view instructions for this process.

2. Start a cloud recording

If cloud recording is enabled for your account, you can start a cloud recording from within your Zoom meeting. Visit the Starting a cloud recording article to view instructions for this process.

Zoom cloud recordings are deleted from Zoom after 30 days, however, users can opt-into the Zoom to My Media/Kaltura transfer service for longer term storage. Once a user opts-in, a copy of each zoom cloud recording they create in their Zoom account is automatically transferred to their My Media/Kaltura account in Canvas and Mediaspace. Users wanting to opt-in to this function can submit a formal request by emailing [email protected].
